Bunkhouse Stroganoff Squares

Creamed ground beef, mushroom, garlic, onion, and homemade breadcrumb mince, baked inside a flaky crust. Served with pan-roasted sweet peas and pearl onions.

Ingredients

Filling:
1.5 c. mushrooms, sliced 
1/2 c chopped onions 
1lb. Gr beef 
¼ c parsley 
¼ c bread crumbs 
6 oz. Cream cheese 
1 t salt 
½ t pepper
½ t thyme 
1/2 c water

Crust:
1 ½ c flour .72
1 T minced onion .02
1 t sugar .01
1/8 t pepper .01
¼ c butter .44
¼ c shortening .44
½ egg slightly beaten .2
4 T cold water
½ egg slightly beaten .2
½ T milk .01

Directions

Heat oven to 375
In skillet – cook mushrooms, onions, beef over med until browned
Drain fat, stir in remaining filling ingredients, heat until cheese melts

Stir together flour, onion, salt, sugar, pepper
Cut in butter and shortening until crumbly
Use fork to mix in egg and water
Divide dough in half, shape into 2 balls and flatten, refrigerate one
Roll out other ball in place in baking dish
Trim to leave ½ in. over edge of pan
Fill with mix
Roll renaming ball flat, top, roll edges under dough to form rim inside pan
Flute/crimp crust
Cut X in 6 places
Mix egg and milk to brush pastry
Bake 35-45 min until crust is golden
